Cool news for Adobe MAX

lukeMAX2If you’re going to be at Adobe MAX in a couple of weeks, then you’re in for some truly awesome geek-treats.

First off, it was somehow leaked this week that around 4000 attendees would be given a pair of 3D glasses to watch an exclusive snippet of James Cameron’s upcoming digital epic, Avatar (apparently, Adobe CS4 products were heavily used throughout production).

And this morning I woke to the news from Ben Forta, that none other than Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, would be co-hosting the Adobe MAX Awards! Well, I guess we will be in LA, so the movie-star treatment may justified :)

Oh, and I hear that as well as all this hoo-ha there’s a few conference sessions on as well that designers and developers might really like to get along to and check out …

Can we get our geek on any more than this!?

Moket receives funding from Open Screen Fund

I’m very happy to announce that Moket has secured funding from the Open Screen Fund, to further development of one of our mobile games in the works, currently titled “Pocket Mogul”. The game will be using several of Nokia’s S60 Platform Services for Flash Lite, and will be initially designed for s60 5th Edition touch-screen devices (screenshot for demo only – not the final game) before being ported to any supported key-based and other devices.

Screen for demo only - not the real game!

I’ll be releasing some more details on the game itself in the coming weeks, particularly once my Adobe MAX commitments are wrapped up, but at this stage I’d like to thank Nokia and Adobe for coming on board with the project. I’m looking forward to being able to bring to market something a little different for Flash Lite games, and it’s always great to be supported during the creation of original IP. Stay tuned!

New Device Profiles for Adobe Device Central CS4

There’s some new device profiles that have been added to the Online Library for Adobe Device Central CS4, and the best part is you don’t have to install any updates to access them. The power of the Online Library is when updates like this roll out – the next time you start up Device Central CS4 and connect to the Online Library, the device profiles are there ready for you to download to the Local Library.

Also, if there’s a profile that you already have in your Local Library, and there’s a newer version available, you’ll see the icon for that profile highlighted in a gold colour. For example, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic profile has been updated to support Flash Lite 3.1, after the new player was made available to 5800 owners via the App Update process on their devices. Your existing 5800 profile will look like this to let you know that a new version is ready to download, simply by right mouse-clicking the profile and selecting “Download from Online Library”.

Out of the 36 new and update devices profiles made available in this release, some of the interesting ones for me are:

  • Nokia 5800 XpressMusic update to support FL3.1
  • Nokia N97 and 5560 (both S60 5th Edition touch screen devices)
  • HTC Hero with FL3.1 (might be the first Android device profile added to Device Central … ?)
