A new video has been added to the Developing with Flash Lite Series – “Get to know Flash Lite for the Digital Home”.

Flash Lite for the Digital Home is the jumping point for application developers to move their existing skills and experience onto an entirely new screen – the TV! In this episode we outline the fundamentals of understanding Flash for TV, and some of the things developers will need to consider.

When becomes low-cost STB hardware available for deployment of flash lite apps?

As you’ll see in the video David, I mention the fact that Adobe are working on a program for developers through which they will be able to purchase a low-cost STB for use with development. However, deploying applications will be similar to the ecosystem that existed for mobile for quite some time – you would need to be working for/with on of the broadcast publishing companies or manufacturers who will be controlling the content that is exposed to consumers. This could be through apps being preinstalled on STB’s or perhaps through some kind of app store / marketplace that they enable for consumers to add their own apps later on. Too early to tell at the moment though.

How can I apply for the developer program?

I’ll be covering it, so keep watching this blog, as well as the Mobile and Devices Dev Center on Adobe.com (www.adobe.com/devnet/devices) and following the links on the right to Digital Home.
