Hi Basil, thanks for your comment. Yes, it IS interesting :) If you'd said to me a year ago that I would be where I am now, I would have said you were crazy :)

It's interesting that a telco like Vodafone Hutchison is getting so involved with apps in an off-deck market, which is completely the opposite to how they've been trying to make money out of apps for the past decade. We have our own strategy for getting involved in this way with apps, and it's not all about making revenue. I personally think that the "apps business" as it looks now will change and evolve over the coming years, just as it has to reach this point. I see a lot of competition in the market and that means more innovation (from companies other than Apple as well!) and more twists and turns. Even though Apple has been a disruptive force in the smartphone and apps market, that advantage will be put to the test as more companies create offerings that equal or better certain aspects of what Apple and iPhone deliver today.

Like I said, I see a lot more change coming, and at an ever-increasing rate, and therefore more innovation and value to customers.

In terms of my reasons for moving away from solely-focusing on Flash (and I say that because I'm still using Flash and other Adobe tools in my new team), it really wasn't anything specific to do with the iPhone. It was really an opportunity to innovate and create on the mobile canvas with a greater amount of resources, support and visibility, and on a larger scale. Plus, the position is very much an extension of what I have been doing with Moket, so it seemed like a natural step to take at this point in time. And is it turns out, I'm having a ball!

Hi Dale,

Interesting that you're leaving Flash/ Flash Lite behind you :'(

The iPhone app development business is really confusing me... today I was reading an article about whether the iPhone app development and submissions is going to stop somewhere...all indications are positive that Apple will continue in the app industry since they're getting 10s of thousands of apps submitted on a weekly basis while other are waaaaaay behind i.e. Android and Microsoft. Apple seems to confident to stay the number one monester in the app development industry. As a matter of fact, your new employer ( a rich telco provider) is focuing on iPhone app and iPad development just like you said. Does this mean that Apple is capable of sustaining this business for decades from now? will this be a source of steady income to telcos and others?

What supports that argument in my views is the fact that you are moving away from Flash and other technologies development to jump into the iPhone & the iPad arena!

Would like to hear from you.

Best of luck!

You're right Marcin, Balsamiq Mockups is another great wireframe tool. and I've played around with it quite a bit. For me personally, the sketching that I do prior to getting "serious"with wireframes tends to look a lot like what Mockups produces for you. I'm open to using tools like this in conjuntion with other tools and being flexible, depending on the app that we're designing. What you use for some situations might not be suitable for all situations. Plus, Balsamiq is a great tech start-up story, which I love as well!

For Wireframes check out Balsamiq Mockups (http://www.balsamiq.com/) - includes a whole lot of template components, including the iPhone stuff. You can also create hyperlinked mockups with it (but not export them to the iPhone as far as I am aware).
