Thought I’d post about how things are going with this new adventure called full-time employment with a telco, after a month of settling in and getting things up and running. As well, there’s been so much to talk about over the past month in the Flash world that I’ve kind of just held back a bit until all the who-ha has died down, to see what I really think and where things are headed for me. I’ll be uploading the second part next week, which covers creating a play-head and progress bar, playing back at full-screen and also accessing meta data from the FLV video.

I’ve been fortunate enough to be invited again this year to speak at the Adobe MAX conference in Los Angeles. This will be my 4th MAX conference and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed participating and presenting at each of them. This year I’ll be running the Day 0 full-day training lab for Flash on mobile devices, “Flash Lite: Developing and Distributing Mobile Applications”, as well as assisting Serge and Tomas in their multi-screen topic sessions. I know there’s going to be some exciting stuff for mobile at this year’s event so I’m very much looking forward to coming over for the conference and also for the opportunity to catch up with so many of my Flash mobile colleagues – always a fun bunch of people to spend a week in the US with!

Gamasutra features gaming on Ovi – Moket game used as example for Flash

There’s certainly been some “interesting” press around the launch of Nokia’s Ovi Store in the past 24 hours. Some good, some not so good. Unfortunately I thinkĀ  the “soft launch” Nokia were planning opened a little “harder” than expected and some early experiences of Ovi have perhaps not been as favorable as they could have been. Nevertheless, Ovi is here and represents a great opportunity for Flash mobile developers in the long term.

Over on Gamasutra at the moment, there’s a (sponsored) feature on the various gaming experiences that can be found on Ovi, covering Flash, Java, Symbian and N-Gage. Moket’s soccer-skills game “Palleggio” is featured as an example of Flash Lite games on Ovi.
